ANSWERED No internet when connected to AirVPN through wireguard on linux

Recommended Posts

Hey, I just got AirVPN and I imported the wireguard configs into NetworkManager on my Linux box. I can connect to the servers fine, but they do not have any internet access. I do however get internet access on my phone when connected to the servers. Is there any reason for this? I have the theory that my IP was flagged for exceeding the maximum 5 concurrent connections (they weren't really concurrent and only lasted a few seconds though, NetworkManager just auto-connected after the import of each profile for some reason). It was working earlier for me though.

I have confirmed this is not an issue on AirVPN's side. I have installed the Eddie client and everything works very smoothly (very fast too!). I would still like to use NetworkManager's built-in WireGuard capability though, so if anyone has a solution for this please let me know :)

SOLVED: I needed to enable systemd-resolved. It was a DNS issue. If you also have this problem, try running "systemctl start systemd-resolved.service" and "systemctl enable systemd-resolved.service". Thanks to nicehand90210 on the Arch Linux forums.

You need openresolv for Wireguard to make DNS changes on connect.

Be careful, you may have inadvertently made it possible for DNS leaks to occur.
I ran an extended leak test just there, all's clear! I believe it's the only resolver I have on my system now (I was using dnscrypt-proxy beforehand).
