ANSWERED Eddie disconnects after 3 seconds continually

New AirVPN user here. I am using MacOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra), firewall settings are turned off completely, just trying to get macbook set up w/ AirVPN via Eddie so I can set up Port Forwarding. When I "Connect to a recommended server" in Eddie, it will connect and then immediately disconnect, restart (connect to another server), connect briefly, then immediately disconnect... rinse and repeat. I assume this is user error, but I can't see what I'm doing wrong. Assistance would be most appreciated, and thanks for your help!

I was having this happen too.  This newest version 2.24.6 just came out in 2025 and maybe has some bugs.  I went to the eddie vpn website (https://eddie.website) and downloaded version 2.21.8.  Issue resolved.

Not a resolution, though. Please install 2.24.6 again and open your own thread providing the same system report to allow the devs to troubleshoot. Thank you.

It is strange that the ownership in Eddie's package was not set correctly, can you please tell us which package you downloaded (Intel or M1/M4, ZIP or DMG)?

The problem is a consequence of the enforcement of a relevant security feature: Eddie will not run with root privileges binaries or scripts not owned by root. You can fix the problem (after you have verified that wireguard-go is safe) by changing ownership of that file. From a terminal:

sudo chown root /Applications/Eddie.app/Contents/MacOS/wireguard-go

I tried both Mac M1 zip and dmg = same result.

So I deleted the app, redownloaded the latest 2.24.6, ran your Terminal script and allowed permissions in settings for Apps to update other apps and still no luck sorry.

Running the previous version of Eddie works for me. Logs attached

Don't do this, as the unpacking will restore the old files with the wrong ownership.

The problem is still the same, but for another file:
E 2025.01.29 21:21:14 - WireGuard > Error: Executable '/Applications/Eddie.app/Contents/MacOS/wg' not allowed: Not owned by root;

Please change ownership of this file too and any other file in case of additional errors of the same type:

sudo chown root /Applications/Eddie.app/Contents/MacOS/wg
