eddie-ui -cli no longer works with v2.24.6

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.
I just updated eddie-ui to v2.24.6 (from 2.21.8).
Suddenly, I cannot use the -cli switch to run eddie in the command line, as I've been doing for years.

My command is the following:

eddie-ui -cli -login=username -password=password -remember=true -connect

The error message I now get is:

Cannot initialize UI. Probably a DISPLAY issue, ensure your are not running as root. Error:The type initializer for 'System.Windows.Forms.WindowsFormsSynchronizationContext' threw an exception.

Now, this is the same message I get on v2.21.8 if I forget to include the -cli switch. Does the new version include a -cli switch, or did perhaps the -cli switch break somehow?

Hello!

The new eddie-cli is inside a separate package for Linux that you can find here:
https://airvpn.org/linux/eddie/

Just select the "command line" icon. The split is instrumental as the new CLI is completely built on DotNet8 (while the GUI is not) another step toward Mono dropping. We apologize if the split was not made clear in the announcement and download page, perhaps we should underline the informative note "You can install eddie-cli package for CLI edition".

Kind regards

Ahh thank you! I had no idea there was a new eddie-cli application (I'm just updating with apt upgrade, I hadn't checked the eddie.website page for years).
