Weduku 0 Posted ... Hi, adding to this thread. I have a premium account and Win 8 and installed the needed files from the instructions page. I connected easily, but speeds were horrible (less than 1 megabit/s). Then I installed the Win8 air client (posted in another thread) and OpenVPN 2.3RC1 which was included. This made no difference at all to the speed, and it's currently unusable. My connection is a 25 megabits line. How can I get a usable speed out of Air VPN? By the way, the instructions say that I'm supposed to select "Premium Access" on Air VPN, but there's no option to choose between free and premium in my client. Are the instructions outdated, or is something wrong with my client? Quote Share this post Link to post
Weduku 0 Posted ... This morning I had a brief period of 16-18 megabits speed. During this period I was marked as not connected on the Air VPN site and speedtest, but I had the new IP, so I was clearly connected. After a few minutes I was throttled down (so it seems) to 0,5-0,7 megabits. Something else weird is that after disconnecting from Air VPN, I'm often blocked from anything related to Air, the VPN servers and even the forums are blocked. The only way to fix that is to restart my computer. No idea what's going on here. Quote Share this post Link to post

Weduku 0 Posted ... This is Windows 8 Pro. I can't see a build number, but it's fully updated. Here's the log for my latest connection. With this connection I got 5 megabits on the first speedtest, then 1,6 megabits a couple of minutes later and then 0,44 megabits on the third speed test. 30.12.2012 - 15:24 AirVPN client version: 1,7 30.12.2012 - 15:24 Reading options from C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\AirVPN\Air\1.0.0.0\AirVPN.xml 30.12.2012 - 15:24 OpenVPN bundle version: OpenVPN 2.3_rc1 30.12.2012 - 15:24 OpenVPN current version: OpenVPN 2.3_rc1 30.12.2012 - 15:24 Ready. 30.12.2012 - 15:28 Login... 30.12.2012 - 15:28 Login success. 30.12.2012 - 15:28 Contacting service... 30.12.2012 - 15:28 Connecting... 30.12.2012 - 15:28 OpenVPN 2.3_rc1 x86_64-w64-mingw32 [sSL (OpenSSL)] [LZO] [PKCS11] [eurephia] [iPv6] built on Nov 6 2012 30.12.2012 - 15:28 NOTE: OpenVPN 2.1 requires '--script-security 2' or higher to call user-defined scripts or executables 30.12.2012 - 15:28 Socket Buffers: R=[65536->65536] S=[65536->65536] 30.12.2012 - 15:28 UDPv4 link local: [undef] 30.12.2012 - 15:28 UDPv4 link remote: [AF_INET]95.211.191.33:443 30.12.2012 - 15:28 TLS: Initial packet from [AF_INET]95.211.191.33:443, sid=d2f94ef2 a5a774da 30.12.2012 - 15:28 VERIFY OK: depth=1, C=IT, ST=IT, L=Perugia, O=airvpn.org, CN=airvpn.org CA, emailAddress=info@airvpn.org 30.12.2012 - 15:28 VERIFY OK: nsCertType=SERVER 30.12.2012 - 15:28 VERIFY OK: depth=0, C=IT, ST=IT, L=Perugia, O=airvpn.org, CN=server, emailAddress=info@airvpn.org 30.12.2012 - 15:28 Data Channel Encrypt: Cipher 'AES-256-CBC' initialized with 256 bit key 30.12.2012 - 15:28 Data Channel Encrypt: Using 160 bit message hash 'SHA1' for HMAC authentication 30.12.2012 - 15:28 Data Channel Decrypt: Cipher 'AES-256-CBC' initialized with 256 bit key 30.12.2012 - 15:28 Data Channel Decrypt: Using 160 bit message hash 'SHA1' for HMAC authentication 30.12.2012 - 15:28 Control Channel: TLSv1, cipher TLSv1/SSLv3 DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA, 2048 bit RSA 30.12.2012 - 15:28 [server] Peer Connection Initiated with [AF_INET]95.211.191.33:443 30.12.2012 - 15:28 SENT CONTROL [server]: 'PUSH_REQUEST' (status=1) 30.12.2012 - 15:28 PUSH: Received control message: 'PUSH_REPLY,redirect-gateway def1,dhcp-option DNS 10.4.0.1,comp-lzo no,route 10.4.0.1,topology net30,ping 10,ping-restart 120,ifconfig 10.4.0.218 10.4.0.217' 30.12.2012 - 15:28 OPTIONS IMPORT: timers and/or timeouts modified 30.12.2012 - 15:28 OPTIONS IMPORT: LZO parms modified 30.12.2012 - 15:28 OPTIONS IMPORT: --ifconfig/up options modified 30.12.2012 - 15:28 OPTIONS IMPORT: route options modified 30.12.2012 - 15:28 OPTIONS IMPORT: --ip-win32 and/or --dhcp-option options modified 30.12.2012 - 15:28 do_ifconfig, tt->ipv6=0, tt->did_ifconfig_ipv6_setup=0 30.12.2012 - 15:28 open_tun, tt->ipv6=0 30.12.2012 - 15:28 TAP-WIN32 device [Lokal tilkobling] opened: \\.\Global\{4661BD78-C493-4619-BD3F-43EF890C155D}.tap 30.12.2012 - 15:28 TAP-Windows Driver Version 9.9 30.12.2012 - 15:28 Notified TAP-Windows driver to set a DHCP IP/netmask of 10.4.0.218/255.255.255.252 on interface {4661BD78-C493-4619-BD3F-43EF890C155D} [DHCP-serv: 10.4.0.217, lease-time: 31536000] 30.12.2012 - 15:28 Successful ARP Flush on interface [20] {4661BD78-C493-4619-BD3F-43EF890C155D} 30.12.2012 - 15:29 TEST ROUTES: 2/2 succeeded len=1 ret=1 a=0 u/d=up 30.12.2012 - 15:29 C:\Windows\system32\route.exe ADD 95.211.191.33 MASK 255.255.255.255 192.168.10.1 30.12.2012 - 15:29 ROUTE: CreateIpForwardEntry succeeded with dwForwardMetric1=100 and dwForwardType=4 30.12.2012 - 15:29 Route addition via IPAPI succeeded [adaptive] 30.12.2012 - 15:29 C:\Windows\system32\route.exe ADD 0.0.0.0 MASK 128.0.0.0 10.4.0.217 30.12.2012 - 15:29 ROUTE: CreateIpForwardEntry succeeded with dwForwardMetric1=30 and dwForwardType=4 30.12.2012 - 15:29 Route addition via IPAPI succeeded [adaptive] 30.12.2012 - 15:29 C:\Windows\system32\route.exe ADD 128.0.0.0 MASK 128.0.0.0 10.4.0.217 30.12.2012 - 15:29 ROUTE: CreateIpForwardEntry succeeded with dwForwardMetric1=30 and dwForwardType=4 30.12.2012 - 15:29 Route addition via IPAPI succeeded [adaptive] 30.12.2012 - 15:29 C:\Windows\system32\route.exe ADD 10.4.0.1 MASK 255.255.255.255 10.4.0.217 30.12.2012 - 15:29 ROUTE: CreateIpForwardEntry succeeded with dwForwardMetric1=30 and dwForwardType=4 30.12.2012 - 15:29 Route addition via IPAPI succeeded [adaptive] 30.12.2012 - 15:29 Initialization Sequence Completed 30.12.2012 - 15:29 Starting Management Interface... 30.12.2012 - 15:29 Checking... 30.12.2012 - 15:29 Retrieve statistics... 30.12.2012 - 15:29 Connected. Staff 9972 Posted ... Hello! Considering the logs and the symptoms, it looks like a line issue. It does not seem a connection or a Windows 8 problem at all. Which server were you connected to? Does the problem occur on every server? Also, please try connections on ports 80 TCP and 53 UDP, just in case your ISP applies a port shaping after some traffic flowing to/from outbound port 443 UDP. Weduku 0 Posted ... I've tried servers in various countries, it's always the same. I also now tried 80 TCP and 53 UDP, same result. <snipped by admin, reason no advertising allowed> Quote Share this post Link to post

Just in case, is there anybody else reading who's experiencing the same?Kind regards Quote Share this post Link to post
Weduku 0 Posted ... I don't run any of those or similar. I also tried deactivating Zonealarm, with no effect. Extra weird (like I mentioned earlier), I sometimes get completely blocked from anything to do with Air VPN. I just had to restart my computer to be able to post this message because the forum was not found. All other sites worked perfectly! Quote Share this post Link to post
Weduku 0 Posted ... Figured I'd try again, but now I just get "Failed to start" when trying to connect to a server. (Logging on seems to work). How can I fix "Failed to start"? Quote Share this post Link to post

Weduku 0 Posted ... I fixed that by uninstalling and reinstalling. My speeds remained very low yesterday, though. But today I'm getting good speeds at 10mbits +, so let's hope it lasts Quote Share this post Link to post
