Eddie Client Annoyingly Slow on Ubuntu

I get frustrated every time using the Eddie client on the latest Ubuntu LTS. For whatever reason, the user interface is slow and sluggish. I didn't have this problem using KDE Neon. I'm using the Experimental version of Eddie but remembered it being the same on the Stable release. Anyone else have the same issue?
