Slow speed tests, brand new user

I just signed up for AirVPN, and of the half dozen or so servers that I have tested, my download speeds haven't gotten above 900 Kb/s (and most were around 200-300 Kb/s). Without VPN, I am consistently getting ~6600 Kb/s right now. I am using Tunnelblick on a Mac, UDP, port 443, no proxy, router is Netgear WNDR4500.

As a newbie, I figure I must be overlooking something important. Any suggestions?

New tests while wired into the router (~9000 Kb/s without VPN):

- ~1600 Kb/s using Velorum (DE)

- ~1600 Kb/s using Orionis (NL)

- ~8800 Kb/s using Andromedae (US)

Obviously, things are going swimmingly with Andromedae while wired into, but not while wireless. Is there a configuration on my router that could be slowing things down?

The other two servers, while much better are still quite slow (17% of original speed). Is that just how things are since those exit points are geographically further from me than Andromedae?

Hello!

Apparently it's the wireless connection that impairs the performance. This is not uncommon: WiFi limitations typically cause effective throughput degradation.
