ANSWERED Issues with remote port forwarding & qbit connection

Recommended Posts

So, for the past year or so I've been using the vpn without any issues while connected to my qbittorrent client. But this evening, for whatever reason, I cannot get qbit to connect when my vpn is on. After some trouble shooting I discovered that no matter which port I use, the connection will timeout and give a "connection timeout (110)" code. I'm not super knowledgeable about this sort of thing, and I've tried everything I know to try and am comfortable with.
I tried updating qbit, changing the ports, renaming the network interface and then rebinding qbit to the new name, and restarting my computer, all of which yielded no results. I'd really appreciate any help on this.

@Jstatt

Hello!

Can you please tell us the Operating System name and version as well as the qBittorrent version you're running? First and foremost, please upgrade to qBitttorrent 5 if you're running an older version.

Kind regards

Hello! I'm running windows 10 home, and I've already updated to qbittorrent 5.

Thanks. We would like to check the VPN server. When you plan to stay connected for hours, please open a ticket and warn our support team that you're connected. If you can't stay connected for a long time please name the servers you're experiencing the problem with.

Kind regards

Alright I'll open a ticket. I'm not usually connected for a long time but I do usually just hit the "connect to recommended server", which usually puts me in Agena, Arkab or Ukdah servers.

I decided to try a fresh install of Airvpn and qBittorrent on another pc, just to see if I would have the same issue, and it ended up working fine. So I uninstalled qbitt on my pc and then did a fresh install and redid the binding and port forwarding process and now it works! It seems like when I updated my qbittorrent to the newest version there was some bug or glitch that went with it that somehow prevented it from properly interacting with the VPN.
