Do I have to configure anything if connected once install finished?

Hi; Sorry to be a butt head, but I am reading through the boards and I keep seeing stuff about port forwarding, router configuration etc. Once I installed VPN I was able to connect to a server no problem. I checked for DNS leaks and also did a "what's my IP" test and they all came up as clean and not pointing to me.

So if this is the case, is it necessary for me to still configure my router/firewall/ports or am I good to go?
