It's not just the utilisation of 10gBit/s servers, but of all servers, regardless of bandwidth, because you are correct, that OpenVPN without "Stable" DCO is resource-inefficient in comparison to Wireguard's design goal of light-weightedness.

The problem is not that of internet-connectivity bandwidth, but one of hardware-utilisation within the serverside-OS. CPU, RAM Memory, Motherboards all work together as single piece of hardware, and if software isn't designed to take advantage of certain technologies, nor if hardware isn't upgraded to do so either, then connection stability and speed are impacted.

I still stand by, if @Staff have implemented the Wireguard protocol in a way which they deem trustworthy and saleable to you're average consumer, then that's the default tunnel that should be followed because OpenVPN "Stable" DCO development is out of their control, barr financial support.

But it's AirVPN's broad average-consumer reputation of "speed is the gold standard" on the line. Sure, other customers may see OpenVPN as the proven-trustworthy, network-configurable protocol. Some might see host-location or network-provider diversity.

But it's also AirVPN's operational profit-margins at stake, and within their brand control. If it's the "better option" that's been side-implemented, and trusted-equally to the historic standard, then the disruptor's the better choice.
