Telos 0 Posted ... Newbie question... I didn't see this in the FAQ... What is the IP column? All things being equal, how do I choose between IPs?https://imgur.com/1B3qBuC.png Quote Share this post Link to post
matts9 9 Posted ... Every VPN server has at least 4 separate entry IP addresses. The first one is recommended others may be useful if you have connectivity problems, want to use non-standard ports, tls-crypt, etc. It's pretty well documented here https://airvpn.org/specs/ (table at the bottom of the page), and here (FAQ) https://airvpn.org/faq/servers_ip/ Quote Share this post Link to post
SurprisedItWorks 49 Posted ... As matts9 said but note that this is only about OpenVPN. wireguard doesn't offer this choice of IPs. Modern OpenVPN setups at your end likely (ie should) use tls-crypt for authorization, making IP #3 the usual choice, with #4 as the backup. IPs #1 and #2 are for the older tls-auth approach, which is inferior in some aspects. (Staff has commented on the differences in the forum many times.) In that case #1 would be the usual choice with #2 the backup. So if you are using a current eddie or other up-to-date OpenVPN client, try #3 and see what happens. I assume that if your client can't speak tls-crypt, you'll get some sort of error message. Quote Share this post Link to post
