Hello,

Clint area has good open port checker tool which is very useful

Is there any mechanism to make open port checks automated way on regular intervals and alert the user via email if it can not detect service is open? ( i looked for APIs and couldn't find anything useful )

There is none, but you can use any monitoring service out there, or your own. For this you need to have created a DDNS name when forwarding a port. If you didn't, you can do this by removing a port, then forwarding the same again but this time you enter a DDNS name in the respective field. Then you point the monitor to ddnsname.airdns.org:port and configure it to send a mail if the port is unreachable.
