Staff 9972 Posted ... @encrypted Hello! The minimum requirements for x86-64 architecture are very low, i.e kernel and libraries you can find in Debian 9: kernel version 4.9, glibc 2.29 etc Any distribution not older than 4-5 years should be fine. You have Mint 19.3, a Ubuntu 18.04 derivative released in 2019. Hummingbird is tested in Ubuntu 18, so in theory it should run in Mint 19.3. Let's see the log and any error message. However, not here: this is an Eddie thread, so let's first ascertain whether the problem is Hummingbird specific. Please feel free to open a ticket at your convenience. Kind regards "Eddie runs Hummingbird by default, and not OpenVPN" So, stupid question - do we then have to select "Hummingbird" in "Preferences/Advanced" and give the path, or not?? Windows 8.1 Today for example I've got roughly same latency results from both Swiss & UK locations and East Coast. @st4r Good to know I'm not alone. Nope, I haven't noticed drastic ping increasing while actually being connected. I can only assume but my guess is it's probably has something to do with the new ping engine. Edit: my bad. Looks like in some cases ping indeed tends to increase For instance Zuben - Eddie shows 357ms, actual ping is 81ms. Before it was never higher than 45ms Another thing I noticed: when in settings I choose to update servers list every hour instead of default automatic - it only updates "Load" and "Users" columns. "Latency" on the other hand stays exactly the same as it was few hours ago. For each machine. Edit #2: Nice https://www.speedtest.net/result/13149059178 Quote Share this post Link to post
karn 2 Posted ... Eddie 2.21.6 intermitenntly hangs on checking IPV 4 when loading on Mac OX 10.15.7 (Catalina with latest security update), then does a slow latency test and ends going through several servers before picking one, which is annoying if I need a certain server or country.. Never had these problems with last version. Same settings I have always used. Guest Posted ... Does this mean that with Eddie 2.21.7 Hummingbird is integrated so that if setting OpenVPN under protocols, Eddie would run Hummingbird with OpenVPN 3 on any server without having to manually setup Hummingbird under user group AirVPN on Linux systems? Hummingbird Is bundled in any macOS version of Eddie, and in linux portable and AppImage versions of Eddie. In the above cases, to use it users need ONLY to check "Use hummingbird" in Preferences > Advanced, they needn't write a path to a binary file. Arch AUR, .deb or .rpm packages don't include HB for the same reason they don't include either OpenVPN, stunnel or ssh, as a OS package is made of plain Eddie with dependencies to other packages like OpenVPN, so Hummingbird must be in the environment path to be found. Eddie beta is set up to update through PPA, so I'll keep the manual setting for HB (since it's the latest version). Yes, I tried moving HB to /opt before and couldn't get it to work properly (probably messed up the symlink). Once I put it back in /etc it worked again. I'll try moving the binary to /usr/local/bin and see if that works. Quote Share this post Link to post
karn 2 Posted ... Maybe this will work for me. In the meantime, I reverted to Eddie 2.2.0 which works like a charm. Eddie 2.2.6 was a pain in the neck...slow loading, would hang 50% of the time checkingIPV 4, then stop itself to run latency checks and always ended up changing my server preference. Honestly it was irritating to the point that after almost 10 years as a customer, i was ready to ditch airvpn Running Mac OX catalina 10.15.7 with latest security update Quote Share this post Link to post

I mean for almost all servers in my case latency is about 80 - 220ms, while Eddie 2.20.0 was showing around 30-40ms for same machines.. Connecting to an actual server and checking speed results shows ping as it should be: 27-40. Weird 🙄 Yes. Massive latency reported by the GUI which made be suspect a problem. I'm using Linux Mint on this machine, so it doesn't seem to be OS specific. The GUI latency reports are giving 124 ms to 528 ms just now but some have been over 1000 ms. As you say it is indeed weird. Despite the claimed high latency, ping results from terminal were good. I did some IPTV tests and got the impression that stuttering when using the previous version of Eddie had much improved, except when deliberately using a long path spanning three continents intended to give long latency. It's too early to report on stability. I wonder if something changed in the latency code. Quote Share this post Link to post

Interestingly the odd server is sometimes given a two figure latency and a five star rating by the Eddie GUI. I was a bit suspicious but tried such a server this morning. It was really slow! Swapping back to a different server (with reportedly high latency) resolved the performance problem. With 2.21.6 I have to ignore Eddie server recommendations. Quote Share this post Link to post
telemus 16 Posted ... Dumb question, I know. I am using Eddie 2.21.6 on a Ubuntu 20.04.4 machine. I changed the protocol from automatic to wireguard (Settings -> Protocols). I then connected and it did so without any problems. My question is: Is there anyway to tell that I am using wireguard rather than Openvpn? Thanks for reading and any advicde. Clodo 176 Posted ... @EclecticFish @IG-11 @st4r Your ping/latency issue is under investigation, but currently we can't reproduce it, see my results in attachment (my results matches ping from cmdline). - Ping engine is used to determine server score, hence it isn't updated when VPN is connected, it is only when not connected. - Seems an issue reported only by Windows users. Please tell me more if possible, focus on "Castor" for example: when Eddie starts, your latency result compared to real (ping 91.207.57.114 for Castor)? If you close Eddie and reopen, do you obtain almost the same result? In "Stats" tab, there is "Pinger stats": a double-click on it resets all ping results and restarts testing, should it be useful. Thanks for any feedback. Quote Share this post Link to post
