onei 0 Posted ... Since 3-4 days ago whenever I try to connect to any server while using default settings or any other UDP protocol (tried quite few ports) progress gets stuck on IPv4 route check and eventually disconnects after 2nd try. Sometimes it rarely does connect but it is abnormally slow, I can't even load google homepage. TCP and SSH still works nominally. Pretty sure it has something to do with my ISP ( Turkey, TTNET ) as I can still use UDP with another ISP on the same computer. Trying to find out if anyone else reported the same issue on my ISP and if there is anything I can do to circumvent the problem on my end. Quote Share this post Link to post
OpenSourcerer 1441 Posted ... Sure it's not a router thing? How do you connect to the second ISP, is it a GSM provider? onei 0 Posted ... Second ISP is a GSM provider, connecting through wifi-hotspot from phone. Well its possible it's a router thing, but nothing has changed about my router/modem set-up in a long time, are there any settings widely known to be creating issues on routers? Quote Share this post Link to post
OpenSourcerer 1441 Posted ... Just now, onei said: are there any settings widely known to be creating issues on routers? Yeah. In the past few years the occasional mention of "QoS" or "UDP flood protection" in firewall settings was there. If your router is managed by your ISP, which is mostly the case with DOCSIS-based internet access but sometimes also xDSL, chances are settings were changed or the router got an upgrade overnight, perhaps even introducing these firewall settings or turning them on. Is this a possible scenario with TTNET? Quote Hide OpenSourcerer's signature Hide all signatures NOT AN AIRVPN TEAM MEMBER. USE TICKETS FOR PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT. onei 0 Posted ... Connection is xDSL, router/modem (TP-LINK W8970) is something I bought myself and as far as I know is not managed by the ISP, I looked over the settings and there is no Bandwidth Control or Firewall settings enabled at the moment. I don't know if this has anything to do with ISP management of the router but CWMP is also disabled. I am pretty tech illiterate unfortunately, can ISP's push upgrades or modify settings for 3rd party routers? Quote Share this post Link to post
OpenSourcerer 1441 Posted ... 2 hours ago, onei said: I am pretty tech illiterate unfortunately, can ISP's push upgrades or modify settings for 3rd party routers? Usually no, unless the management interfaces used are standardized, but even then, an ISP cannot support all kinds of routers and usually only does so with routers they manufactured themselves. In Germany for example we have the Fritz!Box line of routers with TR-064 and TR-069 protocol support, both of which are used for remote router management. And because of its popularity, pretty much every ISP here at least supports autoconfiguration for the "flagship models" of these routers. So if you buy one yourself, there's a certain probability the router will autoconfigure itself in the ISP's network. Yes, that means even without entering any credentials. If it does so, the option to enable updates from the ISP will be enabled by default, but will usually only really happen with routers you rent from ISPs, not with your own. I just searched for CWMP and it's TP-Link's name for TR-069. Now that this is disabled, the ISP was not involved and we should look somewhere else. Do you happen to use a WLAN connection? If yes, 2.4 or 5 GHz? Quote Hide OpenSourcerer's signature Hide all signatures NOT AN AIRVPN TEAM MEMBER. USE TICKETS FOR PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT. OpenSourcerer 1441 Posted ... Do you have another machine which you can test? Maybe it's also time for some logs. In the Logs tab of Eddie, click the lifebelt icon and paste whatever you find in there after you tried to connect once.
