Anyone here running Eddie on Bullseye?

Recommended Posts

I have some spare space and I am considering running a bullseye OS.  This will be an upgrade from Buster, which Eddie runs great on.  Stable Eddie any good on Bullseye, or if not how does the beta run on Bullseye?

Bullseye OS = Debian testing? It does run. If you plan on using NetLock, you should install iptables-legacy, as nftables is the only default in testing/sid. I think Eddie beta is not yet ready to use the nft tool. That's about the only thing to be aware of, really.

@iwih2gk Sorry, new info. I overslept some of the development, it seems.
  • The legacy iptables and the "compatibility layer" iptables-nft are all in one package now, which is simply called iptables. That package is still installed by default.
  • Binaries' names remain. /etc/alternatives/iptables links to iptables-nft by default (which is iptables syntax implemented with nftables kmods). It can be changed to legacy by update-alternatives.
  • nftables is also installed by default, though you interface with it via the nft utility. So developers can support both for now, which is neat. Makes the transition easier.
Hence, NetLock will work out of the box.
