Extracting convas data

As of the beginning of the new Airvpn website ,I noticed so called,canvas tracing .
I find it annoying; is this really necessary .If yes, can someone explain this to me?

Yep.  My canvas blocker add-on fakes DOMrect readout on this site.

On some tracking websites it might matter. Here it's just an "anti-feature" of IPB4 that wasn't
addressed, and is not used to track you in any way. You can block or fake it, it's not something
that was considered during the migration. Actually the overall security and privacy of users is better
than in IPB3. But some new web technologies ended up in the latest branch that might sooner or later
be addressed.
