Hi AirVPN support and users,

about two weeks ago, watching rai.it live TV via AirVPN stopped working. {EDIT: resolved} I always get the message that the content I want to stream is only available for people living in Italy.  Since this week, also mediaset.it stopped working. The mediaset player however is reporting the following error: "The media playback was aborted because too many consecutive download errors occurred.". The setup (Linux with OpenVPN) itself didn't changed. The nameserver is correctly set in the resolv.conf file (to 10.4.0.1).

Is there are problem with the routing? Can anybody confirm this problem?

Thanks in advance

Hello!

We do not see this problem with RAI (tested from a few random servers around the world). Can you list the server(s) you experience this problem on? Mediaset problem is confirmed and we're checking.

Kind regards

Thanks for your quick answer.

I'm using all servers provided by AirVPN in Germany. With that being said, the remove entry in the OpenVPN is: remote de.vpn.airdns.org 443

Is there any ETA for a fix with Mediaset?

Best regards

Sadly, I still get the "The media playback was aborted because too many consecutive download errors occurred." error for Mediaset. Also rai live streams doesn't work. They still block me with a notification that I try to access the live stream as a non Italian. Maybe the following traceroute snippet gives you more information although I don't see a problem here:

Which VPN servers did you tried? Also the German once? Is there are a homepage where I can check my settings (network, browser, etc.) so that I'm able to see where the problem lies down with Rai?

EDIT: I can confirm that both works (Mediaset and Rai), when I'm using the servers in Netherlands (the generated filename is AirVPN_Netherlands_UDP-443.ovpn). Using the AirVPN_Germany_UDP-443.ovpn file still results in the error above.

Sorry to bother you again but RAI is blocked once more. I've tested Europe, Germany and Netherlands and with all three of them I get the information screen from RAI telling me that the content is only available within Italy. Mediaset however still works.

Hello!

We confirm that, unfortunately, RAI is no more accessible from our infrastructure.

Kind regards

Thanks as always for your quick answer. Is there an ETA when this will be fixed?

Hello!

We prefer to not promise anything because the block might be pertaining to all IP addresses which have not been assigned to Italy residential ISPs, in which case we would be unable to resolve the bloc, unfortunately.

Hi,

any follow-up on this issue? RAI content still not accessible.

Thanks for your work.

Best,

Hello!

RAI is restricting access to IP addresses that have been assigned to Italian residential ISPs, so RAI is no more accessible from our infrastructure.

Well come on folks, this is becoming more of an issue everywhere, you need to come up with creative solutions, keep us one step ahead of the enemy. If you are always going to shrug then you will soon have no business.

Hi,
this is really frustrating not being able to access Italian TV from abroad. Mediaset is able to detect that I'm connecting from abroad even though all my traffic is through AIrVPN. I thought the AirVPN outing servers were suppose to avoid the destination server seeing my real country of origin?

@hydrotux

Yes, but some services restrict streaming to IP addresses assigned to residential ISPs. Any IP address, even geo-located in Italy, not assigned to some residential ISP is treated as a foreign address. That said, RAI programs are perfectly accessible from all of our VPN servers.

Kind regards
