I believe there are apps for that in playstore Or If you want to get it from pc with phone connected to USB You need to enable usb debugging in Settings -> developer options. (Google how to "unhide" it if you don't know how) You need adb on computer. If you don't want to run adb as root you must set usb mode when connected to "Transfer files" or similar. Then use command "adb logcat". eldervamp18 1 Posted ... Sometimes, I get a notification that says "VPN Error" from the Eddie app, but when I try to look at the logs to paste it here, the whole app crashes. Is there any other way I can produce the logs?I got the same error. VPN has encounter a error, therefore VPN is locked and to check the log. When i tried to open the log, eddie froze and couldnt get it to close. I had to do a force close. Eddie was fine before I went to sleep. No new functions are implemented, but the application has been restructured thoroughly in order to enhance stability and increase battery life. During this time, traffic leaks would be unavoidable. By catching the OpenVPN error and entering the "lock" status before it's too late, Eddie gives the user a chance to take precautions (if needed) with no time pressure to prevent leaks before trying a reconnection or deciding to un-lock. In other words, you might like to (for example) shut down programs whose traffic must not appear on the Internet as coming from your real IP address, before clicking "Disconnect" and therefore "unlocking the traffic". Compare Eddie and "OpenVPN for Android" behaviors in such a case: if you get a KEEPALIVE_TIMEOUT in "OpenVPN for Android", your traffic would start to flow outside the VPN. What's worse, if the device is unattended and the reconnection attempts fail, the traffic would continue to flow indefinitely. With Eddie, this does not happen and manual intervention is required (remember that in a non-rooted, standard Android system, firewall rules can't be set). This error occurs when communication to server fails. A failure is assumed when none of any "ping" (inside the tunnel) is acknowledged by the other end in a given time frame. In our current setup, a ping is sent every 10 seconds, and the timeout is 60 seconds. So if all the "pings" in that time frame are not "ponged", the party (client or server) assumes that the other party is no more there. This is strictly necessary because UDP is connectionless. What you experience is probably a real disconnection due to the fact that your device can't communicate with the server anymore. You might try to test a connection in TCP. Even though TCP is less efficient than UDP (due to how OpenVPN works), it would mitigate or resolve the issue in case your ISP de-prioritizes UDP packets. Worth a try. Is there any possibility that there would some point be Eddie for android which has functionalities that would take advantage of rooted phone. If you have a rooted device you would be able to perform many actions on your own, for example setting iptables rules to prevent leaks. However, at this stage, Eddie will not take advantage of this fact. Plans to run in a rooted environment do not exist at the moment, essentially because we have a roadmap with more pressing steps and aims (integration with AirVPN first and foremost) but we do not rule out anything about it in the future. Eddie with command 'pkill eddie', because the disconnect button was grey. Kind regards Oh, I didn't realize this because it worked for awhile(sometimes long awhile) before braking. Though now that I tested the tethering, while connected to VPN on android. It seems that it only works if I'm connected to VPN on pc too.This is kind of an out of topic, but would this thing be possible to make work, if I somehow set only the tethering connection to run outside the VPN tunnel in android. Kind regards I'm a bit out of terms but if 'tethered device = my pc'. That is how I would like to run it, but I would also like having Eddie on phone connected all the time. But if Eddie is running on phone, connection to pc fails at some point (about in 2h). I don't want traffic from pc to go inside the VPN on phone.I don't actually need to have VPN on my phone, so this isn't a real problem. But anyway do you happen to know if it is possible to have tethered connection to go outside of VPN in rooted phone. Even just yes/no answer is good. And if you know what type of command or thing I should look for to figure out more, that would be great. EDIT:Why I can tether connection to pc via usb while connected to vpn in android, if I'm connected to vpn on pc too? If I'm not connected vpn on pc then it doesn't work (like you've told).
