Changing a DNS server

Recommended Posts

Hello: My Clear.com modem has the Clear DNS servers burned into the ROM causing a DNS leak. Setting the DNS server in the Leopard control panel cannot override the ROM setting. Is there a way to override the ROM setting?

Hello!

Yes, it's enough to send the DNS queries inside the tunnel, so it does not matter what DNS are hard coded in your router. This should happen by default. Please make sure that your Mac accepts DHCP-pushed DNS and if necessary force it to use the VPN DNS. You can find the IP address of our DNS here, according to the port you connect to:

Hello!

Our servers push the correct DNS, you don't need to do anything. However, if Leopard is forced to use different DNS servers, this push might be ineffective.

In order to check and change DNS on Leopard: http://www.cybermesa.com/DNS/Mac105.htm

Hello,

I went to the Leopard Control Panel and put in an OpenVPN DNS server, but it won't override the ROM.

Do I understand correctly that once the VPN tunnel is established, the encrypted http referral request goes right though the Clear.com DNS servers and are handled by the VPN's DNS servers, and because of the encryption, Clear.com doesn't know where I am surfing?

Thank you
