OpenVPN > Authenticate/Decrypt packet error: bad packet ID (may be a replay): [ #2410 ] -- see the man page entry for --no-replay and --replay-window for more info or silence this warning with --mute-replay-warnings I just got the one above that was repeated 56 times trying to open a web site. This time my internet connection became usable again in about 20 seconds but most of the time it doesn't. It seems to happen a lot when I download something are come close to maxing out my connection. Everything including Eddie shows I'm connected but there is no internet. Sometimes if I let it sit long enough Eddie will disconnect and reconnect but most of the time I have to do it manually. This seemed to start when Comcast increased their speed, they've been bugging me to upgrade my modem but I checked it's specs and it's rated to 100Mbps and that's what my speed was increased to so the modem should be fine. Since the speed increase my connection has been a little inconsistent even with AirVPN off and I've never seen the claimed 100Mbps, the best I've seen is 92Mbps and that only 1-2Mbps more than I was getting on my 75Mbps connection. I'm just not sure if it's something on my end or if there's anything I can do about it but it's getting very annoying. I'm using the latest version of Eddie, 2.13.6 Thanks in advance for any help. After that, the Stats tab will be able to confirm which protocol you're using. Next time, it would also be better if you just posted the logs directly, thank you . Since you're using Comcast though, please do try either the SSL or SSH protocols too, for speed issues. Just remember to reconnect to a location each time you switch protocols please. It should also be said there's many things which factor in on network performance. Not least the hardware that your computer/modem/router/etc. are running. Thus upgrades can be really beneficial. MrRandom 6 Posted ... Thanks you for the reply! If I use the protocol you suggested my speed is almost unusable, apparently Comcast is blocking on the lower ports. I've been using protocol UDP 41185 IP 1. I've been going to try TCP to see it it makes any difference but I haven't yet. I tried SSL and SSH once and it changed something in my torrent client, I couldn't figure out what it changed so I had to restore a backup. I've read a tutorial on SSL and SSH and apparently there is more involved in using it than just selecting the protocol. I might try it again but everything was working fine until recently when Comcast increased their speed, maybe it is my hardware? I checked the stats tab and it confirms I'm using UDP port 41185 Here's my log, I didn't post it before because it's pretty big. I just downloaded a couple GBs and I had nothing but packet errors. Last night I spent about an hour trying several different ports on TCP and UDP and as expected my speed was terrible. What was surprising was my speed on SSL and SSH, I know there's some extra overhead but my download speed went from my usual 80-90Mbps down to 20-30Mbps and my upload that is always the same went from 10-11Mbps down to 2-3Mbps. But you're certainly correct that good hardware is a factor in speed; a solid non-ISP router and PC hardware can do wonders for speed issues. MrRandom 6 Posted ... Thanks for the reply! I have my own Netgear router and a non-gateway modem from Comcast that took me a couple years to get the last time they increased their speed. If I need to upgrade my modem I can't afford to buy my own DOCSIS 3.0 or 3.1 telephony modem for $200.00+ so my only option right now is to get one of Comcast's gateways. Not only do I not want a gateway and have been avoiding them for years the thing is huge and I don't even know where I would put it. Quote Share this post Link to post

For about the last hour I've been trying to download some torrents and it almost instantly kills my connection, so far I've got about 20MB out of the 5GB+ I'm trying to download. I've tried limiting the speed in my torrent client but at this point it seems that I can't download torrents with out it killing my connection. My modem is rated to handle the new speed (100Mbps) but I think the modem is the problem. When I set the speed cap in my torrent client (Vuze) my connection was already dead. After my last post I fired everything up again with a speed cap of 10,000K and even though I still got the errors in AirVPN everything downloaded like normal and I never lot my connection. I don't know why a speed cap would make a difference but hopefully it will help until I can get a new modem. Quote Share this post Link to post

Under “Tracker Communications” – Tick: “Enable proxying of tracker communications”. Also tick: “I have a SOCKS proxy”. “Host”: 127.0.0.1 “Port”: 8080 “Username” and “Password”: Make them Empty Under “Peer Communications” – Tick: “Enable proxying of peer communications”. Tick: “Inform tracker of limitation” Choose: “V5″ from the “SOCKS version” drop-down menu.Tick: “Use same proxy settings for tracker and peer communications proxy”.5) Click “Save” and restart Vuze. I haven't tried any of this but I did try SSH and SSL again a couple days ago and they were both extremely slow for me. I know there's a little extra overhead but my upload and download speed were both reduced by about 75%. If you read my last post above yours that I am replying to you can see that setting a download limit of 10,000K in Vuze seemed to solve the problem. I have no idea why setting a bandwidth limit helped or if it's going to be a permanent fix but it did seem to stop my connection from dropping and not coming back even though I still got the packet error. Only time will tell if the problem will happens again but since I never had any problems before Comcast increased their speed it has to be my modem or something on their end. If you have any other suggestions based on the information I've posed that would be great. Thanks everyone who responded, I really appreciate all the help and feedback. I deleted your double post. Thanks! I'm pretty happy with Vuze and it's worked great for me for many years now but I might try qBittorent sometime if I can't resolve the problem. MrRandom 6 Posted ... I know it's been a while since my last post but I wanted to post the results of setting a download limit in my torrent client (Vuze). I don't download a lot lately since all my storage drives are running out of space so it took a while to download enough for a useful result. Limiting my download in Vuze to 10,000k seems to have temporarily fixed the problem. I'm still getting the packet errors but since setting the limit I haven't lost my connection because of the error. I'm still not exactly sure what is going on but I suspect it's my modem and I know the problem isn't completely fixed but the bandwidth limit seems to be a good temporary workaround. In Vuze it says my download limit is 9.77MB and I typically got 11MB before the problems started so it's not really limiting my bandwidth by much. I'm tempted to push it up to an even 10MB but I don't want to mess with anything now that it seems to be working. I'm still getting my full upload speed with no problems and that's more important anyway. I just wanted to post an update of my results for anyone who may be having the same problem. Limiting the bandwidth in Vuze seemed to work for a while until I had to limit it more and more, I think I finally got it down to 2500K. That never solved the problem for very long and it eventually got to the point where I was having trouble using the internet and AirVPN had almost become unusable. I finally uninstalled Eddie and reinstalled it and since then I've never seen another one of those packet errors. I'm using 2.13.6 and as far as I could tell after I reinstalled it the tap driver was the same so I don't think a driver update was causing the problem. My boot drive is a Samsung 850 EVO that's only about a year old so I don't see how something could have been corrupt? In any case reinstalling Eddie seems to have fixed the problem. I'm still having a few issues with speed and soft resets killing my connection for up to 5 minutes but it's just occasionally. I think some (if not all) of my remaining problems are caused by my Comcast modem so it's not really anything I can troubleshoot or deal with until I get a new modem.
