Ten new 1 Gbit/s servers available (US)

Hello!

We're very glad to inform you that ten new 1 Gbit/s servers located in Dallas (TX), USA, are available: Chamaeleon, Equuleus, Helvetios, Leo, Mensa, Pegasus, Ran, Scutum, Volans, Vulpecula.

The AirVPN client will show automatically the new servers, while if you use the OpenVPN client you can generate all the files to access them through our configuration/certificates/key generator (menu "Client Area"->"Config generator").

The servers accept connections on ports 53, 80, 443, 1194, 2018 UDP and TCP.

Just like every other Air server, they support OpenVPN over SSL and OpenVPN over SSH.

As usual no traffic limits, no logs, no discrimination on protocols and hardened security against various attacks with separate entry and exit-IP addresses.

 

Please note that the aforementioned servers will replace the following five servers in Dallas which will be withdrawn within a week:

Aldib, Alnair, Alsavi, Auva, Rasalgethi

Keep up the good work! I was worried about why some Dallas servers said imminent withdrawal a few weeks ago. Now we get even more Dallas servers! The airvpn team knows what it's doing for sure. Definitely a 150% happy customer.

The last few days I've tested on Ran here and there.  During the day nice and fast.  In evenings, (peak time) throughput to Houston Comcast customers (like me) is on the order of 40KB/s.  The route to me is learned via Cogent.  I know you can't do anything about that but I'm afraid you'll have some unhappy customers if this remains the case.  On the other hand, Rasalgethi routes via Zayo and remains fast even during peak hours.

I was thrilled when I read (on low coffee intake) "New 1GBit US Server". Thrilled.  The when my coffee hit, I was jumping and dancing with joy as I re-read it as 'TEN' New US Servers. I re-re-read and TEN 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10... TEN was being repeated in my office, ten, ten, ten... and then I released that I was me. TEN.

 

It has taken a few minutes for me to compose myself & this message. It seems that I can't type while self-high-fiving'.

 

I have been using Aldib, Alnair, Alsavi, Auva, Rasalgethi and reporting on the IP blocks and blacklists for this Dallas group. Regions Bank is blocking all five of them as of this week.  At my location out in the woods on Tyhe Sweet Gum Ranch Complex, Dallas has always worked best, but more and more websites were blocking their IP addresses.

just wait....morons will start doing idiotic things on the new dallas servers and get them blocked too.  I'm not optimistic.

San Angelo, know that place.

The company that owns the datacenter may be in San Angelo and that's why geolocation shows that.  But, the servers are in Dallas.  Route trace doesn't indicate San Angelo is a possibility.

Connections with these new servers have been subpar, as in kbIt. I'm on a 300mbit connection. Other Texas servers were much better.

Agree.  At least 1 other has said the same thing. The route to me from those servers takes Cogent.  Cogent to Comcast (my ISP) is horrible in my area and others I'm guessing.

Hello!

 

Since August the 26th all the servers addresses are multihoming toward Cogent and Hurricane. If you still experience unusual low throughput from the USA, please specify your residential ISP.

Yes, every evening download speed from those servers slows to a crawl for me, Comcast (ISP) in Houston.  I've tried every protocol including SSL and SSH using both Eddie on Mint and my pfsense gateway.  "Best" is probably UDP 53.

 

I trace the route, when connected, to IP addresses in the same subnet as my own (ISP assigned IP address) so to see the route taken from the VPN server to me.  It's always via Cogent.  Latency is low, but good grief are they slow at peak times.

 

Edited to cross through the above wording.  Tonight, wouldn't you know it, speeds didn't decrease all that much.

Tonight it's bad for me.  I tested 15 minutes ago and got good speed.  But, now it's less than 1mbit/s and I'm getting packet loss to the server (Ran) according to pfsense gateway monitoring.
