Debian Wiki 403 responses.

The Debian Wiki gives a 403 response to a number of servers. It seems to be the UK servers that have the problem, with the Netherlands and German servers having it too as for some reason the Debian Wiki is routed to them through the UK servers.

Eddie generally sticks me onto a Netherlands server, which is fine for the most part, excepting the Debian Wiki.

 

The main Debian website does not have these issues (or the micro-routing through the UK servers).

Is this a "show-stopper". To be honest, no. But it is blinking irritating. I obviously don't know why the UK servers would be getting a 403 response from wiki.debian.org, but this seems to be being exacerbated by micro-routing Netherlands and German servers through the UK for that domain.

 

I suspect that there may have been a reason for this in the past (maybe Netherlands and German servers were being blocked?), but it's creating a problem now.

Try to access it from other servers or Google webcache for now.

For some reason they don't like VPN and Tor users.

Thanks for the reply. You of course have limited powers to make website managers act sensibly. They have "some reason", which I can't fathom.

 

Anyway, for now, I've been using the proxy link in the Startpage search results which gives access to the page on the wiki.

 

It's the live page so better than Google webcache. ... oh, and Startpage doesn't attempt to collect personal information unlike Google.

I'm blacklisted too. Did some searching, pretty common thing with the Debian Wiki. Seems they haven't addressed emails to them asking why they blacklist vpns. My work around is a pain - ultravnc to a computer in the home that's not on the VPN and then get info from the wiki. In some cases I print to a pdf, transfer that file to the vpn PC and then open it when trying to troubleshoot something in Debian. Not an AirVPN issue and I've been very happy with the service I receive, thanks.

You should definitely use Google's web cache instead.
