cm0s 118 Posted ... (edited) here's my idea:if you are an admin of say a torrent site do not get involved in other activiities that will bring attention to your community. stop with the bloat code on your websites, adware, scamware etc. put a link up for your community to be able to 'donate' what they can when they can might be better to mirror the site to the tor network for the magnets not have that available via clearso in a way you are running two sites same thing but the tor network has the magnets maybe put another site up separate from that onion address for the 'forum' community where you probably will need java running for all the admin junk, this way your 'java' site is tor only and separate from your magnet site hire an attorney if and when you can, if needed so you got some help if something goes wrong as it tends to if you have enough from donations give some of that back some how, whatever your ethics are, do some kind of good with it if your site grows beyond your ability, bring someone else in that can handle it and can keep your community safe drink tons of coffee, like way more than needed # airvpn irc hidden service stealth mode ssl # mkdir hidircz # cd d0wnz # touch cool.motd # vim cool.motd hit 'i' copy paste text below or your own custom motd hit 'esc' key then type ':wq' ____ _ ____ _ _ ___ _ _ |__| | |__/ | | |__] |\ | | | | | \ \/ | | \| =========================== https://airvpn.org add this to your torrc file mod for your own config if needed... DonaldDrumpf 3 Posted ... What's killing Torrent sites is the overuse of adblock software. That's to be expected, given the type of outfits willing to advertise on a torrent site, but that's the situation. Big article on Torrentzfreaks a while back where they interviewed some struggling site owners and the consensus was that donations don't work (some had tried it) and adblocking software posed a much bigger threat than anything governments have been doing. cm0s 118 Posted ... a magnet is a txt file not much overhead there adware on a torrent site means a 3rd party has access to your site's traffic that by itself is the biggest liability to a torrent site's security you can hit github, get a magnet scraper, scrape your favorite torrent site and put all the magents up on one single page on a site somewhere for next to nothing i got a couple magnets up on my site, cost me zero to add them, few minutes of time and drinking too much coffee Quote Share this post Link to post
FractumSeraph 0 Posted ... Another possible solution is ZeroNet. There are already a few torrent sites there that seem to be doing well. With this solution bandwidth and hosting wouldn't be costly, so a donation plan might work better.https://zeronet.io/ Quote Share this post Link to post
