Operation timed out after 1004 milliseconds

I am trying to connect to a server using AirVPN but every time I press 'connect' I see a message at the top of the window saying 'operation timed out after 1004 milliseconds'. I have tried connecting to many different servers but this problem keeps reoccurring. Are there any solutions to this problem?
