Staff 9973 Posted ... Hello! We're very glad to inform you that a new Eddie Air client version has been released:2.11.15 Eddie 2.11 includes important bug fixes and many changes meeting users' requests and preferences. - Latest versions of OpenVPN (2.4) and stunnel (5.32), built with OpenSSL 1.0.2k - A new Network Lock method under Windows (Windows Firewall not used anymore) - A new IPv6 lock method under Windows - A new DNS lock method under Windows - Built with Mono 4 under GNU/Linux - New ports/protocols available - DPI-Aware UI under Windows. System fonts used both in Windows and GNU/Linux. - Very many bug fixes - And so many other internal changes and minor UI updates. 2.11 version is compatible with several Linux distributions. For very important notes about environments, please read here: https://airvpn.org/forum/35-client-software-platforms-environments Please read the changelog: https://airvpn.org/services/changelog.php?software=client&format=html Upgrade is strongly recommended. Just like previous versions, Eddie implements direct Tor support for OpenVPN over Tor connections. Eddie makes OpenVPN over Tor easily available to Linux and OS X users: no needs for Virtual Machines, middle boxes or other special configurations. Windows users will find a more friendly approach as well. This mode is not handled anymore as a generic connection to a socks proxy, but it is specifically designed for Tor and therefore solves multiple issues, especially in Linux and OS X, including the "infinite routing loop" problem (see for example http://tor.stackexchange.com/questions/1232/me-tor-vpn-how/1235#1235 ) As far as we know, Eddie is the first and currently the only OpenVPN wrapper that natively allows OpenVPN over Tor connections for multiple Operating Systems. https://airvpn.org/tor We recommend that you upgrade Eddie as soon as possible. Eddie 2.11 for GNU Linux can be downloaded here: https://airvpn.org/linux Eddie 2.11 for Windows can be downloaded here: https://airvpn.org/windows Eddie 2.11 for OS X Mavericks, Yosemite, El Capitan and macOS Sierra can be downloaded here: https://airvpn.org/macosx PLEASE NOTE: Eddie 2.11 package includes an OpenVPN version re-compiled by us from OpenVPN 2.4 source code with OpenSSL 1.0.2k for security reasons and to fix this bug: https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn/ticket/328 Eddie overview is available here: https://airvpn.org/software Eddie includes a Network Lock feature: https://airvpn.org/faq/software_lock Eddie 2.11.x is free and open source software released under GPLv3. LZ1 672 Posted ... Hello! Tremendous effort Air! Those download pages are looking super nice too! Well done! Hide LZ1's signature Hide all signatures Hi there, are you new to AirVPN? Many of your questions are already answered in this guide. You may also read the Eddie Android FAQ. Moderators do not speak on behalf of AirVPN. Only the Official Staff account does. Please also do not run Tor Exit Servers behind AirVPN, thank you. Did you make a guide or how-to for something? Then contact me to get it listed in my new user guide's Guides Section, so that the community can find it more easily. Share this post Link to post
encrypted 13 Posted ... I came to comment on the latest beta 2.11.14 released only yesterday (no issues) to find this. This should be a solid stable release. I do have a comment on the new download page though. For over the year I've headed directly for the "experimental" download and it always opened right up with no browser issues, but the new site gave me blank sections for OS, Architecture, Format and UI until I disabled uBlock (now needs exceptions set). No problem but something to be aware of. Share this post Link to post

greenclaydog 6 Posted ... Does Eddie now support Tor using obfs4 bridges? It's extremely easy for network admins to block Tor access and obfs4 needs to be used practically everywhere outside of home. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk Share this post Link to post

UncleHunto 6 Posted ... Eddie 2.11.15 stable still fails DNS checks on Manjaro. This happens with both rename and resolvconf methods of changing the DNS. I will attempt to connect and it will fail the DNS check, disconnect, attempt to reconnect, fail the DNS check, disconnect, attempt to reconnect, etc . . . If I uncheck the "Check AirVPN DNS" box in the settings, and attempt to connect without performing a DNS check, it will connect. If I check ipleak.net the DNS server is (correctly) the same address as my IP address. If I check my resolv.conf file, the address is (correctly) "nameserver 10.4.0.1". The fact that everything looks correct makes me wonder why it always fails the DNS check, and why this problem has existed for so long. As an extra note, Eddie 2.10.3 still succeeds at the DNS check when I run it on my system. Here are my logs from when I was attempting to connect and failing the DNS check with Eddie 2.11.15:! 2017.01.31 15:32:56 - Activation of Network Lock - Linux IPTablesI 2017.01.31 15:33:02 - Session starting.. 2017.01.31 15:33:02 - Unable to understand if IPv6 is active.I 2017.01.31 15:33:02 - Checking authorization ...! Developers do have a testing Manjaro machine where this problem was solved since some version ago, during the beta testing. In the meantime, as you noted, you can safely disable DNS check. Kind regards I am using the 64-bit Cinnamon Community Edition of Manjaro. I don't remember what version it was at when I originally installed, however I have kept my system up to date, and performed a full system update January 1st, 2017 before trying out Eddie 2.11.15, so everything should be at the most recent version. I have noticed that others using arch based systems have reported this problem resolved for them as well, so I am kind of curious why I still have it At least everything else works well, and I have my default non-airvpn DNS server set to something other than my default ISP DNS address, which is more private, so I'm not really worried anyways. I suppose it is an OCD thing, I just want everything to work Share this post Link to post

~Daniel~ 11 Posted ... Thank You for the update and revised download pages! Out of curiosity, I noticed the change log stops at 2.11.14. Will there be additional entries added there for 2.11.15? Also, if I installed the new AirVPN client over the existing, would I still get the OpenVPN update, or do I need to uninstall the TAP driver (Windows) and (1) let Eddie install the package one, or (2) reinstall Eddie to get the new OpenVPN TAP? Or is the fix for some other part of OpenVPN that has nothing to do with TAP? Share this post Link to post

Related, I can see that the right-click context menu expands to display the whole line, so I'm wondering if the tip box has a hard width limit that others have gotten around using carriage returns? Never noticed it before your post as I usually leave Eddie open to look at my details/logs. Not sure why this forum doesn't allow direct paste of images. princi 2 Posted ... Very pleased to see this new version. I use it as a reference while testing other platforms, eg. If it works with Eddie, why not with others. Is AirVPN now supporting OpenVPN 2.4 server side as well? Or just a 2.4 client connecting to a 2.3 server? 1 Nasdaq reacted to this Share this post Link to post
