Help with AirVPN Client on Solus Os Linux

Recommended Posts

Hi AirVPN

Im a user at Solus OS Linux

Website: https://solus-project.com/

Im trying to use the Airvpn client on Solus Os but no success, any chance of fixing this and provide a tarball file.

I did file a package request but was denied due that there is no valid release tarball or zip file for the source.

You can try using the portable version. This is the only thing the developer said which makes sense.

Without a valid release tarball or zip file for the source, this will not be packaged. It's not enough for the source to just be on git.

This is a hilarious statement. I'm not sure I would like to use a distribution from such a developer, though. Who knows when something

else is going to be broken or will require patching. Many drivers and other sources are on git and it's seems like not enough for him to get things done.

Feedback from the Awesome owner of Solus, Can this be done please..

They only have to create a git tag and we can take it from there. This is such a fundamental part of software development and release practices.
You create an immutable point in history, and we package that specific, tested, version. We can ship git versions of packages, and in quite
a few places we do, but this demonstrated disdain for versioning and proper releases makes it, at present, very unattractive.

Once they throw a git tag up on GitHub (all of 2 commands in a terminal) we can reassess this.

Yeah, it'd be great since no portable version seems working on my system, both Mono and normal release, as well as Stable and 2.11b5. Here's the error I get from the Portable version, beta, (no mono):

EDIT: it actually works now, but it needs the mono-devel package, even though it's the non-mono Portable version
