guidocimurro 0 Posted ... Hi everyone, i used AirVPN when I had to use public wifi; this year I bought a Chromebook so I was looking for an alternative for 4-5 days. I've read some threads on Reddit about hotels anche other places (like Starbucks) that block the VPNs through firewall and now I've come up with an idea: could I use my smartphone for tethering with a WiFi (my carrier doesn't permit tethering) and force AirVPN on port 80? I read that AirVPN allow connection on port 80 (correct me please, if I'm wrong) and this port should be the best to avoid firewall trouble. Thank you for your helping. They usually block corporate VPNs.When you connect using TCP/443 or even SSL and TCP/443 you should have no issues whatsoever. This is the protocol all modern websites use for secure connections, so blocking this will leave people withoutany top 100 websites they can use, so no one should block legit SSL connections on any WiFi.Port 80 is also usable with AirVPN but you will usually have better results with 443.
