question about continent .ovpn files

I don't quite understand which server OpenVPN connects me to when I'm using the continent .ovpn files from AirVPN, like the Europe one. Is it always going to be the same server, or does it randomly pick any server from any European country for this example? Or does it go by ping?

Thanks. Is there any way to randomize the server it chooses, using OpenVPN? In another thread I saw a "All servers for area region" advanced option in the ovpn file creator: https://airvpn.org/topic/13658-connect-to-random-server-not-using-client-how/

 

However, this option does not seem to exist anymore. Is this not possible anymore?

When using .ovpn file for europe you get something like this

...
remote europe.vpn.airdns.org 443
...

However when you want specific servers you might want to to this

...
remote-random
remote se.vpn.airdns.org
remote de.vpn.airdns.org
remote nl.vpn.airdns.org
...

This will normally ensure the client chooses one of the servers at random. You can change any of these servers for specific servers (you can also chose IP's)

Now it should choose choose a random server amongst the best NL, DE and SE server.
