Hi! I have been using AirVPN for about 3 months now. It has worked fine, until, yesterday, I got a new router.

AirVPN is now no longer able to connect with the Eddie Client for PC, but is able to connect with the OpenVPN app on my iPhone and iPad.

When it says "Checking route" in the client, this is when it fails and says "Operation Failed". I have managed to identify the problem, but I have not found out how to fix it.

EDIT: I have fixed the problem! I did some Google searching and I found a solution. I opened an administrator command prompt, ran

  1. netsh winsock reset catalog
  2. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
  3. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

in that order. I then rebooted my computer. I am now able to connect to AirVPN servers without any problems. If anyone else is having this problem, run the commands above, hopefully it fixes it for you too.

The Default Gateway of my OLD router was 10.10.10.1. However, the default gateway of the new router is different (10.10.1.1)

. 2016.05.04 18:52:44 - OpenVPN > C:\WINDOWS\system32\route.exe ADD 62.102.148.150 MASK 255.255.255.255 10.10.10.1

It looks like the AirVPN client is still trying to connect to the old default gateway IP, not the new one. That seems to be the issue.

How do I fix it so that the client uses my new default gateway IP, instead of the old one? (I am on Windows 10 by the way)

Well It's supposed to be checking that I'd recommend trying to reinstall the Eddie incase it saved this setting somewhere

I did that three times and the problem persisted

The client picks it from your network adapter. You should look into the settings of your primary main network adapter (not the TAP one).

I looked at the settings for my Ethernet adapter that I use to connect to the router. It didn't say the default gateway anywhere. It was set to "Obtain IP Address automatically"

And the IP Address, subnet mask, and default gateway boxes were blank and greeted out.

However I do have a local ip and am able to browse the Internet without VPN.

Any other places the default gateway might be saved?

says the gateway is ambiguous (2 matches).

could you just change your internal network to 192.168.x.x range and see if that works?

I can't. My router is provided by my ISP and is extremely locked down. It doesn't allow me to change the internal network range

Did the ISP send a technician to set up their router?

You found the default gateway address of the router through "ipconfig/all" on your computer. or similar system check

The logs show the old default address is in your system twice.

2016.05.04 18:54:21 - OpenVPN > Warning: route gateway is ambiguous: 10.10.10.1 (2 matches)

but not 10.10.1.1.

Either the technician set up wrong(if technician set up) or new router has a flaw.

In the eddie client, is "remove the default gateway route checked or unchecked??

Below item confuses me!!!

2016.05.04 18:54:41 - DNS of a network adapter restored to original settings (Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller)

On my computer, this shows "only" if I am connected by wired connection directly connected to modem (not router) not wireless connection.

Is your router a combo, modem and router.

Yes, my router is a combo, I have no modem. I'm not connecting through wireless either, I'm using an Ethernet cable.

Also, there was no technician setting up the router. My ISP sent it through the mail and I installed it.

Also, I don't see the remove default gateway route setting in the Eddie client.

I was wondering about the router.

My friend has ATT UVerse.

They paid the high installation fee so ATT checks monthly on the line tapping.

Sometimes the device sent thru mail; sometimes a technician arrives with it.

The technician set ups all the devices (smartphones, tablets, computers).

In my urban area, lot of line tapping to steal internet, cable tv, etc...

So ATT and the cable company likes to know how many devices actually in each household.

I live in a suburban area, not much line tapping here, so Verizon, my ISP, doesn't ask about our amount of devices, and they don't do any setup on our devices (PC, laptop, phone, etc)

Well I don't really know the router or how Verizon operates but for example

 . 2016.05.04 18:52:44 - OpenVPN > Warning: route gateway is ambiguous: 10.10.10.1 (2 matches)

this line appears in it and you said that was the old and it does check for your gateway through your network 192.168.0.1 this is my gateway for example and it finds that just fine, now since your other devices still work using the wifi I'm assuming it means the issue is on your PC and I think your network adapter might be the problem since it tells the Eddie that your gateway is 10.10.10.1 and I'm uncertain of a fix but you could try reinstalling your network driver but I can't really guarantee that may work, wish I could be more helpful in this situation but its not one I've encountered before or anything close to.

I'm not sure if this will help, but, I just checked by using the ipconfig command on cmd, and it says I have two default gateways

This is what it says

 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 10.10.10.1

                                                    10.10.1.1

For some reason it says both the old one and the new one there. Why could that be?

How do I delete the post?

You can't, but you can delete the contents as a workaround.

Four simple things:
There's a guide to AirVPN. Before you ask questions, take 30 minutes of your time to go through it.

Amazon IPs are not dangerous here. It's the fallback DNS.
Running TOR exits is discouraged. They're subject to restrictions on the internet and harm all AirVPN users.

Furthermore, I propose that your paranoia is to be destroyed. If you overdo privacy, you'll be unique among the mass again.
