Recommended Posts

Dear Community,

i wanted to ask you if it is possible to run air vpn on an modem router?

My current router is a modem router provided by my isp but it wont work with this router.

I am asking for a modem router because i just want one device. So is it possible?

Thanks.

It has nothing to do with integrated modems. You need a router than can be flashed with DD-WRT, Merlin, or Tomato. You can't do that on that router.

I wasn't asking if it can be done on my current router. I know it won't work or it is too complicated. I want to buy a new router with integrated modem. So I can flash dd wrt or tomato on it.

Soery if I was unclear.

You can of course buy a Router compatible with the above mentioned firmwares.

You however need to be aware that the bandwith will be limited by the computational power of the router (which is low).

Google around to see which firmware you would like best and narrow down to which router you'd go for according to you price range.

Then Google again to see the feedback from other people and the expected speeds you can get out of it.

As far as my research went, there were no affordable routers that could come close to the computational power of a computer with the Openvpn software installed (= DOWN/UP speed).

Do you have any router suggestestions?

I can only find routers.

But no routers with integrated modem. On which OpenVPN would work?

My max download speed is currently about 1,8 MB/s
