Hey guys, just a question about the new law in canada concerning Internet Activity. So I recently got an email titled Important notice regarding your Internet activity. Here is a snippet of the email they sent me http://prntscr.com/7pmy1e. Yeah they knew my Ip, the item downloaded, the time downloaded and I used Bittorrent to download it but that's it from what I can see from the email. Will using this vpn protect me from this. Also any of ye have any suggestions to stopping this in the future. I already asked AirVpn about this but i want to get some confirmation from some of the users here thanks

You get a notice when that happens? I want this in Germany, NOW!

Yeah they knew my Ip, the item downloaded, the time downloaded and I used Bittorrent to download it

They know the name of the torrent. They should prove that the contents of the files you downloaded correspond to the name of the torrent. Without it, in my opinion, they cannot prove anything. In Germany, the companies also quote the torrent's hash but I think that's just decoration to make you pay

Will using this vpn protect me from this. Also any of ye have any suggestions to stopping this in the future.

It will never stop. By using a VPN service you are only replacing your ISP IP with the one from the VPN server you connected to. These notices will just be directed to someone else.

AirVPN is a no-log VPN service so if they get such a notice they carefully read it, carefully giggle and carefully throw it in the thrash can. So yes, this protects you from it.

While using VPN, prevent IP address leaks. In my signature, there is a link to an explanatory post about the results of ipleak.net. I suggest you open it in your browser and follow the eyplanations. They tell you if a leak persists. If so, it also suggests some minor solutions.

I would also ask you to be considerate and utilize country servers where DMCA don't cause the other members here issues.  e.g. -  there are several times that Air has had to "take down" a server in the USA because the datacenter-hosting ISP received too may DMCA notices.  Air will "back" your anonymity but it creates issues for some of us and the loss of a great running server frankly sucks!

Air currently offers over 100 servers in countries all over the place.  If you are going to download a file where a DMCA is likely to get issued please don't do it on a server where DMCA are problematic "in general".  Please.

That's what I was intending to do,I've seen using Switzerland is a good place or Spain for any downloading.
