Getting Max Download But Only 1/3 off Upload

Hello all.  I just recently signed up for AirVPN.  I am running AirVPN on my CentOS 6.6 server.  What I am running into is the fast download speeds but slow upload speeds.  My FIOS connection is 50/50 which is approximately 6 MB/s.  When I download files I get my max speed of 6+ MB/s but whenever I try to upload files rather it is via a torrent or uploading to my VPS I max out at round 2 MB/s.  I have tried various servers and various openvpn configurations and still cannot seem to get over the 2 MB/s upload speed.

I did some further testing an here are the details.  If I do an SSL tunnel I will get my full upload speed of about 6 MB/s for about 5 minutes.  Then if I do another upload it drops back to 2 MB/s.  And it will stay at around the 3 MB/s range for the remainder of my session.  I am thining it has to do more with my ISP than anything else.

Do you get the same behabiour during http uploads (f.ex: uploading a file to your favourite Cloud host) ?

Thanks for the reply.  I used testmy.net and it shows my upoad as 6+ MB/s so I am good.  Thanks for the advice.
