2015 EU VAT regulations

According to ivpn, they moved out of the EU because the 2015 EU VAT regulations

 

 

Gibraltar. In 2014 we decided to move the company from Malta to Gibraltar in light of the new 2015 EU VAT regulations which affect all VPN service providers based in the EU. The EU VAT regulations now require companies to collect two pieces of non-conflicting evidence about the location of a customer; this would be at a minimum the customer’s physical address and IP address.

 

 

I would like to know what air vpn has to say about this, are they going to start collecting this information, are they planning to move out of italy?

Hello!

 

It's totally unnecessary. In case the information is not gathered for any reason VAT must be paid in the country of the company, according to European Commission guidelines.

Gibraltar is a British overseas territory and Gibraltar is part of the European Union as far as I know.
