It would appear that Apple has had code as part of their Safari browser ever since some time last year which would allow SSL verification to silently fail, allowing users to believe their traffic was encrypted, yet it wasn't. I wonder if this was intentional... http://www.zdnet.com/major-apple-security-flaw-patch-issued-users-open-to-mitm-attacks-7000026624/http://arstechnica.com/apple/2014/02/apple-releases-ios-7-0-6-and-6-1-6-to-patch-an-ssl-problem/ This impacts iPhones, iPads, AppleTVs, and Safari for OS X. At this point, they've fixed the iOS devices, but the full Safari remains insecure. 1 OpenSourcerer reacted to this Quote Share this post Link to post

huntsman 2 Posted ... Most Apple users believe the tooth fairy. Apple Inc doesn't want them to hear the truth. The hackers and thieves are targeting Apple users as well.I've discussed this disbelief with several Apple users who can't and don't want to listen or believe their PC's etc, which has cost 100's of dollars more for their beliefs, are also subject to Virus and Ransomware attacks !Good luck trying to recover and unlock your machines if you don't have an image backup. It will cost you in both dollars and time to recover. Quote Hide huntsman's signature Hide all signatures Don't let governments or politicians take your privacy or freedom away from you. Ricnvolved1956 51 Posted ... I'm an Apple user but not one of those who believes in an "Apple tooth fairy". I'm sure there are many hardcore Apple users who have that attitude. While Apple products are certainly more expensive I tend to believe you get what you pay for. Nothing is perfect and any device will eventually become obsolete. Having said that, I eventually came around to the belief in Apple quality. My first Apple product was a Mac Mini purchased 10 years ago, to be replaced 2 years ago by an iMac desktop. I added an Apple iPad Mini3 tablet last year and an iPhone SE this past July. I would never go back to a Windows PC for personal use even if someone offered to pay for a new one every year for a lifetime. I got extremely tired of having to deal with constant worry about viruses, the dreaded blue screen, irritating defragmentation. It was a supreme pain in the ass. Maybe those issues have been minimized or even solved with better technological advancements, but I don't care; it doesn't matter to me now. People can think of me as an Apple snob, but I've never been someone to care what others think about my life choices. (Ironically, I'm composing this post on a Samsung Tab S 10.5 tablet. I admit it's a pretty nifty device I've had for 2 years. However, I hate Google and when this tablet has reached the end of it's useful life.... no more Android for me.)
