chaos.vpn 2 Posted ... Hi AirVPN team, On the same machine I have windows and ubuntu. On Windows:* Windows 8 Pro* Advanced Firewall used to limit internet traffic to only be through VPN* uTorrent w/ port forwarding* Usually peaks around 2.5mB/s. Max I've seen is 3mB/s+.* Server: Sirius, TCP On Ubuntu:* 12.04 Server (with minimal desktop installed)* UFW used to block all traffic out/in for internet except certain ports through VPN* Transmission w/ port forwarding* Usually peaks around 500kB/s. Max I've seen is 900mB/s.* Server: Sirius, UDP What can I do to increase the speed on Ubuntu? I think it's very odd that this is happening. Other variations are that the disks are different, but both are comparable 7200RPMs. Thanks Quote Share this post Link to post
amnesty 18 Posted ... On Windows:* Server: Sirius, TCP On Ubuntu:* Server: Sirius, UDP Is there as big a difference in speeds using the same port? It is strange that your Windows boot is so much faster. I have a machine which boots to either Windows or OS X. The OS X boot is about twice as fast in the tunnel.I get better speeds using TCP 80 than the other ports but UDP 2018 which gives me the best performance. Quote Share this post Link to post
chaos.vpn 2 Posted ... @amnesty - it's interesting about OSX vs Windows. I've setup the same port with UDP and now I'm easily hitting 2.5mB/s with the Ubuntu setup. The difference between TCP and UDP is significant it seems. I wasn't expecting it to be a multiple of 4 or 5. Quote Share this post Link to post
chaos.vpn 2 Posted ... I just hit over 6mB/s. That's faster than what Windows could achieve. I'm pretty happy with the UDP results. Quote Share this post Link to post
