General

Expert mode

Activates some expert information and features.
- Allows sending commands to OpenVPN Management Interface via Logs window.
- Shows verbose logs in main window

DNS Switch mode

The software can detect the best available method for DNS Switching, based on operating system and available software. You can force a specific method if available on your platform.

Check if the tunnel use AirVPN DNS

When the connection is established, Eddie tries to resolve domain names that are resolved only by our DNS server, to ensure that system is correctly querying our DNS server.
It's not mandatory to use our DNS server, but it's recommended to enjoy our Geolocation Routing service and avoid DNS blocks/DNS poisoning by your provider.

Check if the tunnel effectively works

Sends a request to the server, that verifies whether it comes from within the tunnel and replies with an acknowledgement.

OpenVPN Path

Allows you to specify a path to OpenVPN executable to bypass the executable version bundled with AirVPN Client.

Windows-Only

Force TAP interface UP

Forces the TUN/TAP interface to come UP.

Force DNS

In Windows, every network adapter may have DNS settings.
If this option is active, when the connection starts the client clears any DNS setting for every network adapter.
The TUN/TAP adapter will be updated when the connection is established.
When the connection is closed, the client resets every DNS setting to the original state.
DNS settings are changed during connection, not during the disconnection/connection to another server.

This option is equivalent to a feature of the https://www.dnsleaktest.com/ scripts.

Switch DHCP to Static

If a DHCP adapter is renewed during connection, Windows may reset the original DNS settings.
If this option is active, when the connection starts the client changes any DHCP adapter to Static.
When the connection is closed, the client resets every adapter to the original state.
No action is performed if there isn't any adapter in DHCP.

This option is equivalent to a feature of the https://www.dnsleaktest.com/ scripts.

OVPN directives

Here you can add custom OpenVPN directives.
By default, custom directives are appended to our default directives. Check 'Skip default directives' to avoid that.

Events

Here you can specify to call some external executable or script according to various event of the client.

App Start

Occurs when the client is started

App Stop

Occurs when the client is closed

Session Start

Occurs when the session is started. A session starts at first connection to a server, and ends with the return to the login page.

Session Stop

Occurs when the session is closed

VPN Pre

Occurs before a VPN connection

VPN Up

Occurs after a VPN connection is established

VPN Down

Occurs when a VPN connection is closed

Switching between servers raises VPN events in the same Session.
